Academics 

Riverwood College prides itself on an excellent academic standard, as well as qualified and competent teaching staff. We deem it important that the class teachers, the department heads and the counselling department work closely to support each learner. Here, we consider ourselves an extension of the family environment and we assist in the holistic development of each learner, so that they can develop academically, physically and spiritually.

Our counselling department is staffed by competent Life Orientation teachers and we have an educational psychologist on our school premises. We have a wonderful relationship with tertiary institutions who visit on a regular basis throughout the year. These aspects help our learners to adjust to the demands of adolescence, to develop inter-personal relationships, to develop study skills and to make the correct subject choices for their future careers.

Online Learning

Riverwood College offers full time online classes by making use of Google Classroom. Google Classroom is a free service and every learner receives a Google account and personalised Riverwood College email address. Google Classroom makes it easy for learners and teachers to connect with one another – inside and outside of schools. Google Classroom saves time and paper, and makes it easy to create online classes, distribute assignments, communicate and stay organised.

Subject Selections

Grade 8 and Grade 9 learners are educated according to the Outcomes Based Education Syllabus. According to this, eight learning areas are required.

Grade 10 – 12

Subject Choices Grade 10 – 12 

One subject is chosen from each line.
